Title Department
TITLE FEE INCREASE: Beginning January 1, 2026 the State of Ohio will increase title fees to $18.00. No additional increase will be added by the Champaign County Clerk of Courts.
PLEASE NOTE: The following information is intended as a brief guideline. Because of the complexities of many titling issues, we welcome your call to discuss your specific situation
Proof of Ownership:
When transferring ownership the seller must complete THE ENTIRE TOP HALF of the back of the title. ALL BLANK SPACES MUST BE COMPLETED before acknowledgement by the notary. Open titles will not be accepted. Do not erase, alter, scribble or white out any part of the assignment. This also will not be accepted.
Sales Tax:
Sales tax and title fees are due at the time your title is issued. This office DOES NOT accept checks.
Payment can be made by:
- Cash
- Credit/debit (fees apply)
- Cashier’s check
- Money order
Replacement or Duplicate Titles:
In the event that your Ohio title is lost or destroyed you can obtain a duplicate. You will need a valid picture ID and the vehicle information.
If you are currently out of state and would like to request your title by mail, you will need a notarized BMV3774 Application for Certificate of Title. Call our office for other details.
